YOUR CONDO VIEW

We know that when vacationing there is little more disappointing than having a view which is:

Face_075.wmf (14014 bytes)        AN OBSTRUCTED VIEW!

In our own personal traveling, we've been told that we were getting an "oceanfront" room, only to find that what the person who sold us the room meant to say, was an "oceanpeek" view! Be careful, someone may tell you that your Maui condo is oceanview, and in reality you may see only a sliver of ocean peeking out from behind a building or some other terrain.Unbelievably, we've seen "oceanfront" condos which did provide some ocean viewing - beyond a parking lot!

As long as you can see a bit of water - even if it's just a little - you will be told that your room is "oceanview or oceanfront". Don't you want to be as close to the ocean as possible with no obstructions? Do you want to feel the ocean breezes? Do you want to hear the surf crashing as you relax at night? With our condo, Hoyochi Nikko #206, you will not be disappointed!

Ppl_0787.wmf (8436 bytes)     PRIVACY CONSIDERATIONS

Once upon a a time, we visited a very heavily advertised high-rise oceanfront Maui condo. The view was nice, except for one thing - there was another high-rise complex immediately next door. Thus, everytime we wanted to enjoy a sunset dinner on the lanai (balcony), there were about 100 rooms full of people in the other building who could sit and watch us!

In fact, somebody in that complex had one of those "laser pens" that shoots a little red laser dot through the air, have you seen those? Every night, as we attempted to relax on the lanai, one of us inevitably got "zapped" on the forehead by the little red dancing laser dot!

Also, the plate glass window which led onto our lanai also provided a direct line of sight opportunity for anyone in the adjacent building to look directly into our unit. Thus unless we drew the blinds, there was no privacy. Sadly, drawing the blinds obstructed the view. So, we'd suggest that you ask any property owner if there is any opportunity whatsoever for your neighbors to see into your unit. That is, unless you happen to like running around nude for the benefit of your neighbors. One never knows...

When you stay in Jetnick's Maui Hideaway (Hoyochi Nikko #206), you will enjoy unsurpassed privacy. No one will be able to "zap" you with their laser pen.

Our conclusion: red laser dots do not mix well with red wine when sitting on your lanai. Of course, you may prefer that "Manhatten on Maui" feeling and like to live surrounded by teeming masses of humanity on your vacation. Not us. Bet you don't either.

I suggest you ask when making your arrangements: "Does your unit have a view of any other units either in the same complex, or in any adjacent complexes?". If you can see into anyone else's unit - they can see into yours!

It's Your Vacation. Choose carefully
