READER, PLEASE NOTE:

The page you are about to view was created using photos and stories of the Jones family  between 1999 and 2006. In 2008, Nick & Bel divorced after 24 years of marriage. Because of the many things Bel and I shared during those years, dating back to our college years, and including the establishment of my flying career, the births of our two wonderful sons, worldwide travel, and the establishment of our Maui condo venture, I have decided to leave this page intact.

We both have moved on in our lives, but I shall always honor the memory of what we have done, and are still doing, on this beautiful island.  Leaving this page intact is, I suppose, my way of honoring our time together, as well as many Maui memories,.

Today, Bel & I remain partners in our Maui condo venture. We work cooperatively, with mutual respect, and for the mutual benefit of the other in this endeavor. Nick is primarily responsible now for the management of the business, but Bel is an owner and a presence to this day.

When you visit our condos, the Aloha Spirit we hope you encounter originates from the original and sweet relationship that existed between Nick & Bel.

HELLO FRIENDS! WE'RE NICK & BEL JONES

Hello! On this page, we'd like to introduce ourselves to you and hopefully give you a sense that when you stay with us, you are visiting the home of people who really love Maui, and who are interested in getting to know the people who stay with us. It really gives us pleasure to be a small part of your Maui adventure.

We want your Maui vacation to be one filled with lifelong memories. It is our hope that when you stay with us, that you feel that you are staying at the private condo of friends - and that you and your family and loved ones will come back for years and years to come.

OUR GUESTS - OUR FRIENDS

One of the things we've discovered that we love about owning and renting these condos is that we get to meet so many interesting people - new friends actually - from around the world. So far we've had countless honeymooners, several 50 year anniversary couples, families, lovers, and friends. They've come from as far as Brazil, Japan, Australia, England, and even a few from our hometown of Enid, Oklahoma!

We've shared in the joy of new marriages, and the heartbreaking sadness of more than one family who visited Maui after the death of a spouse or a parent - their first trip without their loved one.

When we started this, we had no idea that we would find ourselves laughing out loud as we shared the excitement of first-time Maui visitors, nor could we have known that we would also cry with our new friends as they shared with us the recent loss of their loved ones.

Barry Kostyk - Laura Guerrant - Dick & "Princess Dawn (4 time visitors)" - "Z" & Jennifer Shrader (honeymooners), Mr. & Mrs. Marois (50 year anniversary)....and the many others who've become so special to us, thank you for sharing your joy, and your lives. You, and many others, are people we met on the internet, and who now we consider our friends.

WHO ARE WE?

On the internet, it's so easy to get lost in the impersonal nature of it all, don't you think?. It's important to us that you realize that we are the people behind not only this website (I try to get mileage out of the "webMASTER" thing at home, but Bel just ignores that), but also Maui's Hoyochi Nikko #206, Kuleana #322 & Kuleana #321. It really does give us great pleasure to know that we have played a role in helping others create lifelong memories of a very special and beautiful place in the world.

Hi! We're Nick & Bel Jones

My Bel, she is the love of my life. A beautiful woman possessing more love and grace than I ever knew a human could possess. She is my beautiful, sweet wife, my companion, my exciting and intoxicating lover, and without her - I would have no life, for she makes me complete. I thank God for allowing me the privilege of being her husband .

When I met Bel, I had nothing - literally. I was a broke college student, barely scraping by. I would run out of money and this girl that I was then dating used to feed me the macaroni and cheese in her cupboard. I vowed then that I would feed her and our children for the rest of my life. She believed in me when I had absolutely nothing to offer except, I suppose, the unlikely promise that I would strive to take her to the beaches of the world (We're from Oklahoma - and when I told her that, I had never even seen a beach). To you reading this, if you meet someone like this - you are blessed.

I love you Bel. Thank you for 21 wonderful years and 2 beautiful sons - I look forward to the rest of our lives.....

We make our home in glamorous Enid, Oklahoma - USA. If you don't know where that is... you probably are in good company. Enid is located near the base of the Oklahoma panhandle. Ours is a wonderful little community of about 40,000 people, whom we all know on a first name basis..

(...Well, maybe it's not that small!)

Enid, for some odd reason is a very popular crossword puzzle answer ("..4 letter town in Oklahoma"). I don't know why.

We are native Oklahomans, but our heart is in Maui. Someday, we will retire in Maui.

I'm Nick Jones. I spent 8 years as a US Air Force pilot. After a tour flying transports in the Orient and another tour as an instructor pilot flying jet trainers, I re-entered civilian life and have spent over 14 years as an airline pilot for American Airlines. I'm based in Dallas, TX. I fly throughout Europe, South America, Hawaii and the Caribbean on Boeing 767 aircraft.

Bel has a degree in chemistry, loves gardening, and has spent the last 14 years as a full-time mother and homemaker. She has also worked part-time as a chemistry and bible teacher at a private Christian school in Enid.

We have two sons, Nicolas and Austin. They attend Oklahoma Bible Academy (OBA) in Enid where both boys have represented their school for several years in the statewide "math olympics", academic team, track, cross-country, choir, and band.

Both fellows are accomplished musicians who have played in numerous piano, saxophone, and guitar recitals and competitions throughout the state.

Austin, along with Nick, is a saxophone player and plays "first chair" in his school band. Our favorite saxophone player is Dave Koz (see his site at davekoz.com). Our favorite Hawaiian singer is the late"Brother Iz". When you are in Maui, be sure to pick up a CD of this Hawaiian musical legend's music - the sweetest voice you can imagine. Literally 400+ pounds of Aloha Spirit in this voice.

LOVE YOUR CHILDREN

Austin is known for not only for being a good student, but is also a star fullback and striker on the "Jets" youth soccer team - a team which I coincidentally happen to coach! The Jets are the four-time City Champions of Enid, Ok.

Please, forgive my parental indulgence for the above, but after all, this is my website, and I just felt like telling you all that.... HA! (I hope you'll tell me about your family and loved ones as well).

Bel and I are very proud of our sons. As of Jan, 2008, Nick, Jr. attends the Art Institute of Dallas studying Media Arts & Animation. Austin is a Senior in High School in Oklahoma.

WE LOVE THE SAXOPHONE!

Nick & Austin jamming over the Maui coastline!

As we played on this day, a humpback whale came crashing to the surface just offshore. In our excitement, we stripped off our clothes and ran into the ocean. The whale gently swam underneath us and lifted us onto his back. He swam with us on his back, singing a whale song, about 3 miles to Lahaina Harbor, where he then gently submerged thus allowing us to swim to Cheesburger in Paradise. It was amazing!

(I wish it was true..)

BEL & "GUY"

We met "Guy" over a year ago. We drove into our driveway after a heavy Oklahoma thunderstorm. When we found him, he was only a few days old - his eyes had not yet opened. He was motionless except for very shallow breath.

Bel and the boys took him in. They proceeded then to bottle feed him (even getting up in the middle of the night for this) - and despite the odds of keeping him alive (according to our vet friend), he survived and grew! We kept him first in a box, then in a cage, and finally set him free after several months. Now, over a year later, he lives in our backyard and visits us daily. He eats out of our hands and sits on our shoulders - sometimes as we eat our own dinner on our backyard balcony! We love him.

(and that is true)
